Icelandair Headquarters: A Unified Home for Icelandic Aviation
The new Icelandair headquarters brings office spaces and training facilities together under one roof. The building creates a strong and unified home for the future of Icelandic aviation.
Located within a dramatic lava field, the headquarters stands out in the landscape. A silver aluminium façade wraps the building, while vertical profiles draw inspiration from the shape of an aircraft wing. The exterior reflects movement, precision, and the spirit of flight.
Inside, the atmosphere shifts to warmth and calm. Whitewashed ash wood, dark terrazzo floors, and large skylights shape the interior experience. Two central atria fill the building with natural light throughout the day.
These atria connect the new structure with the existing buildings. They form shared spaces for daily movement, meetings, and informal interaction. The design supports openness, connection, and a strong sense of community among staff.
